Myself I've always liked the idea of Halloween, one special day where you can knock on any door and ask them for sweets! Genius! Now thats im 16 I am sensible and man enough to let the 10 years olds do this now and I become that random guy. Halloween tends to be one of those mixed views topic, and sadly the older generation seem to be quite against it, now the fact of getting your house egg/flour bombed by "Bad-Ass" teenagers is probably the main contributing point of why many people dislike Halloween (I have a BB Gun incase any one tries it), but then you see small children with there parents dressed up walking in groups going from house to house you have to step and thinking "bless" I mean it's all for the youngers really, there going to have fun, and opening the door and giving them sweets will make them happy because im sure all there brain activity on Halloween will be "SWEEEEEEEEETSSSSSS!"
Then again people celebrate Halloween differently and it doesn't neccersary mean it's all for the kids, I mean at the Sixth form college im at there's a fancy dress halloween day going down on the last day of term (24th October) we have to pay a £1 but we get to dress like goths for a day! Fantastic! I have no idea yet if im going to dress up, but I better get a move on and decide.
Various Halloween traditions also follow suit. I mean a minority of people treat it like Christmas and decorate there houses to the max (God bless them) some tone down a bit and simply do a bit of pumpkin carving. I used to carve a pumpkin ever year with Grandma, and then on the 31st always but it on the window ledge with a candle in, and having a pumpkin on show seems to attracted a fair number of trick or treaters. I wasn't planning on doing it this year, but now that I've started talking about it im going to ask my Grandma and see if yeah can get some again (Im such a child!) and some don't do anything, which is a shame as it's a bloody awesome day
What will I be doing on October 31st 2008? By the looks of it now having a pumpkin carved and ready (Seriousness inside me says no, the inner child says go for it!) but to be honest I won't be doing something major different. I'll check that we have some decent sweets in for the trick or treaters, and maybe to top it off, find some music to play all night (It will be metal it won't relate to Halloween I don't care, Metal is scary if you don't like it. But I fucking love it. Everyone's a winner)
But what will James' Blog be doing for Halloween? Well this was going to be secret information but I guess adding this bit at the end of post is essentially a reward for reading my blog, but I have been creating a special halloween theme for James' Blog, so on the 31st you shall be greeted with ghouls and demons! The special layout has been created and finished a few days ago so I was sure it was ready in time, but who knows? Maybe now because of the new category of Special Occasions appearing on the blog, maybe other special layouts are in production as well?
