Over the past few days James' Blog has been having some changes (mainly the behind the scenes stuff) changed and upgraded, but due to this, you may have been experiencing problems with the website or even not be able to access it at points. But because you can't see the back end stuff thats changed I thought I'd update you on whats been going on
Since WordPress (The content management system thats powering James' Blog) released it's brand new version 2.7, many parts of the blog have been updated to neutralise the 2.7 code, as lot of the code behind James' Blog was legacy, but many of the new functions such as the new WordPress 2.7 comments have been implemented in. But I am not the person you should be thanking, my good friend Jon over at Fire Studios, was the main man behind the new updates. Thanks to his amazing Guru knowledge, James' Blog now has brand new comments complete with a new style. As well as some new updates to functions and general optimization.
But whats changed thats visible to you? Well like I said most of the updates we're back end, but there are some visible changes:
New comments:
Thanks to Mr Fire G, James' Blog now has a brand new comment style, which functions better the old style and is much more pretty on the eyes. You may have noticed that comments haven't been working correctly recently, but now everything should. There was period where you couldn't post any comments at all. But everything is working now.
Removed footer:
The footer displaying recent comments, recent posts etc, has now been removed as I thought it no longer fitted with the Renovatio theme. It was part of the old James' Blog theme but it no longer fitted with the style of James' Blog. So instead I have brought the sidebar into play more and added the Recent Comments and Most popular posts tabs into the sidebar, complete with some fresh icons. Because we all love icons! You'll notice that I've finally added in a small copyright footer bit where it should be, as the old footer was restricting me on where I can place a small footer.
Contact Page:
The contact form page was broken, but now is working again, there we're also issues with how the forms where displaying but thats been fixed now, with a simple change of plugin, as right now. I don't have time to keep making fixes for things. It's bad enough IE7 requires a seperate stylesheet for some of the styling for the Renovatio theme.
This has caused delays on some content that I was hoping to post. I currently have an article in the works and a tutorial coming soon, but they have been delayed until all of this was sorted out, but now it has service can resume.
Thanks for visiting James' Blog, sorry for all the recent problems you may have been having, but I can safely say, it's all over know. Why not go ahead and post a comment with the new commenting. Again I can't say thank you enough to Fire G for doing helping me out with it!
