The UK get two snow days in one week!

England this week has been subjected to the most snow we've ever had in years! Every resident in the UK woke up monday morning with a blanket of snow covering everything. On Tuesday the snow combined with ice closed over 100 schools in Nottingham and caused major roads to be closed due to them being too dangerous (Some 13% gradient sloped roads) and now thinking that the snow has melted away, but it has returned today! There is 2cm - 5cm snow on the ground across parts of the UK. In Nottingham alone over 250 schools are closed, the roads are really bad and traffic is heavy.

My school has literally just been announced over the radio that it is closed along with a update on my schools website saying closed, along with a further 250 odd closing too. Chaos on the roads so everyones thinking to just walk to work. I have a guitar lesson later, but I think I'll have to cancel it, because if my bus isn't running I won't be able to get into town and no one will able to pick me up when it finishes as the roads will be too dangerous. This morning snow is contining to fall in Nottingham and the temperature is currently -1.

There's more snow falling than Monday, which orginally I thought was bad but obviously not! Im currently sitting up in bed with the laptop and looking out the window and the amount of snow is apparent here's some pictures:

My front garden along with others

Snows still falling and apparently more is on the way, so maybe a double snow day? Nottingham has had two already, why not make it three!

Well fresh snow, I think some sledging is in order later!

Sounds like a world of fun James! Lucky you.

I'm still shocked that I'm having 40 degree heats and your having snow!

I particularly love the photo of your mum's footprints from a photography perspective :)

It's not snowing today but all of the snow that has fell has frozen so roads are dangerous still, but my school is closed due to there supplier having no grit/salt to deliver so the paths are roads around and in the school are very dangerous so they've closed it!

Haha! That's nothing compared to what we get over here, if we got that we'd still have to go to school. :/ Oh well, atleast you had some snow days! Those are always nice.. until you have to make them up at the end of the year. (Well you have to in the U.S. anyway.)

In actual fact I had a total of three days off school. Friday was due to aftermath of snow (mainly ice) that had formed on my schools paths and parts around various buildings, the fact that the schools supplier of grit and salt could not deliever any due to there own stock being low was probably a main reason why we we're closed. For the UK it's the most snow in about 20 years apparently. I yes I too will also be playing catch up on school work when we return!
