I apologize for the alliteration, but that's what I've been doing for the past couple of days. I've been planning a couple of tweaks to my one and only WordPress theme for a while, but have only got round to it recently, this is due to me being on holiday and before the exams I took last month. But whats good is that the exams are over and while I'd wish I was back in Scotland because that would mean I wouldn't be going back to sixth form tommorow, but im back in England so there we go. Anyway I like to do a what I call blog update post any once in a while to update you on the latest changes that happen behind the scenes so to speak. Read on to get the latest information
Post Thumbnails
These are the image that you see on the side of each post. They appear on both the summary version (On the main page) and also on the article itself. They we're introduced many months ago but I have recently looked at bringing them into the post a bit more and have decided to resize the image from 150 x 75 to 160 x 160. To be honest I don't know why I chose the old size of 150 x 75 it's so uneven and weird looking, it's probably because the post thumbnails we're one of the features brought over from the old theme back in 2008, but they have now been sized to a nice even size.
Note: If you see streched images, then your browser is loading the old image sizes, this happens when your internet browser caches a page (for faster loading later on) you will need to clear it for the new image sizes and in some posts new images to properly display. This can be done by holding your ctrl key and pressing F5 if your on a Windows based computer.
Breadcrumbs (Extended Navigation)
No I don't mean the crumbs from my sandwitch I had today but the new box that says 'You are here' although I worked in a improved navigation bar a couple of months ago I decided to implement what you all breadcrumbs and allow someone to see where they are and use the breadcrumb navigation rather than the main one. You'll notice it updates as you move around the site. Also if your lazy you can just click these links to take you back to a previous area. Hey I do so feel free.
Google Adsense
OH MY GOD HE'S SOLD HIS SOUL TO AN ADVERTISING COMPANY. No I haven't but you will noticed there is a advertisement at the bottom of the page before the footer. This is powered by Google Adsense and you've probably seen them before on other websites. I decided to see if I could make some revenue from my site, while that does sound like im selling my soul, im really not. I hate advertisements and sometimes a website can be ruined by them, hence while the advert is placed at the bottom of the page, which probably isn't that worth it as no one is really going to look down there, but if I can make some revenue I might as well give it a go. Can I just say right now that you won't be getting any pop up's or adverts everywhere. The only ad is at the bottom of the page and no where else. Actually I've lied through that paragraph there is actually two advertisements on big banner and 5 small links. Oh im a devil.
Style changes to the rotating banner
Im referring to the actual images here, what I mean by style changes is the actual presentation of the various rotating images. I mainly use the rotating banner to advertise popular posts e.g. latest tutorial or article etc. Well I've scrapped this format, and now go with a add as I go method. Instead of having latest tutorial "bleh bleh" the images simply display the post and what it's about in breif. Just head up to the rotating banner to check out what I mean. I think this method works better than defining what is the latest tutorial etc.
Tiny style fixes
I've noticed that a few areas such as headers and paragraphs have been slightly off in the sense of spacing between each. The issue was mainly happening on pages rather than posts but now I've introduced using headers in articles and posts this needed fixing and now has. There are also a few issues with lists items not displaying correctly but this has been fixed too.
Sidebar bars
Those little bars you see at the end of the sidebar have been updated to a nice look, I had Photoshop open and decided to update them for a better look which is more suited to the layout they are present in
Thats about the main changes, just thought I'd update you all in case you we're wondering 'Why is this there wait when did that appear? DAMN IT I don't know anymore'
