Well a couple of weeks ago my toshiba decided to give up the ghost and the screen internally failed, the screen has already been replaced once and it's a few years old now, so I think it was time for upgrade, though I must say my dad actually bought me my new laptop! Out of the blue too. I was planning to save up for a new one once I found a job, but my dad asked me where my laptop was one weekend and I said the screens gone again, and then last week out of the blue decided just came out with "oh yeah son im buying you a new laptop" shock wasn't the word. So thanks Dad! Even though I didn't stop saying thank you all the way through the store when we bought it! So for the past two weeks me and my Dad have been Laptop hunting and in the end found the Compaq Presario CQ60 as a great choice!

Why I use the Windows Classic Theme in Windows XP

Well recently my posts have been about computers and technology, and this one is no different, I've mainly been playing around with hardware and tech stuff recently so I thought I'd get a trend going. Over time of using Windows XP I've slowly started to really hate the Windows XP Theme you know the theme where you have a big blue task bar with a green start button, since Windows 95 the taskbar really hasn't changed much but I've always thought it was fine as it is, so why fix something which is not broken, but recently I've gone back to the classic theme of windows that you would find as default in Windows 95, 98 or 2000. Maybe it was just some slow realisation but I honestly have switched back to Windows Classic on Windows XP

Laptop Cooling Stands are they worth the money?

Yesterday my laptop cooling stand I ordered was delievered by the lovely mail man, and I was eager to get it open and test it out. Like many of the computer owners out there I own a laptop and unlike others I make sure my laptop has the latest updates and hardware drivers etc rather than not really use it and let it get out dated. So I do work on it and sometimes run intense applications like Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver. But as us Laptop owners know, they get very hot, and the possibility of your Laptop over heating gets more and more probable as your laptop gets hotter especially as the temperature in the UK is starting to creep up.

Workspaces are very important. Everyone needs a private place to do there work whether it be, school work, office work or general work. Since computers, work has got every so easier to do. What with software like Microsoft Office a person is able to create word processor documents, powerpoint presentations, charts and graphs on spreadsheets and lots more with little effort. So we have the software to do this, but what about the hardware? Again we do have the hardware, but when it comes to computers a computer screen comes in different sizes and screen resolutions. This is where a persons workspace can differ as there are many setups, but which one do you have?

The benefits of creating a home network

If you have more than one computer in your house have you ever considered creating a network to connect them to each other? So each can communicate, share devices attached by local ports or even share simple files or applications. I hadn't really considered setting up a network until I got a laptop, but recently I found myself using my laptop and wanting to use devices such as printer, but of course these are connected to my PC! I could simply plug the USB into the back of my laptop but what if I was doing work downstairs on the sofa on my laptop and I need to print something? Sure like I said I could walk upstairs and plug the printer USB into the back of my laptop. But that would mean I would be forever walking around with my laptop and having to plug things in and out when a laptop is a portable computer! Kind of defeats the object of having one. But to solve this I've created a small home network between my PC and Laptop.

The fight to install Windows Vista continues

6 months ago I posted a half rant/half truce with Windows Vista. I'd bought Windows Vista Ultimate thinking great, going to install Window Vista on my desktop experience Aero on my new 27" screen but sadly it didn't install. Infact the install itself just up and crashed everytime and just kept hanging on the same spot. I'd checked my hardware and they we're all Vista compatible, so I was a little baffled. But in this process some good came out of it. I managed to obtain second hand laptop from a friend and I installed Windows Vista on that instead and concluded I will leave my desktop which was born into the world on XP, alone and content with Windows XP running through it's veins. But now I've decided to continue the fight to install Windows Vista on my troublesome desktop
