Frequently Asked Questions
I get questions as comments on my blog articles and also get some questions directly to my inbox. I offer my email address so you can email me with any queries, but this page is here to tone down on the frequently asked questions that I end up repeating alot.
Personal Question I've received:
Q. Is your name James Blogs?
A. My name is James, but my last name is not blogs. If you must know my Full name is James Maclennan White. The domain name james-blogs is meant to mean a website where someone called James blogs about things! (That needed clearing up!) There is also the fact of that nearly every freaking domain using the words james, blog or blogs is taken. So it took me a while to actually find a domain in the beginning...
Q. Where is your blog theme from?
The theme you are looking at is designed by me and all my love and care of my blog is put into the theme! Unforchently the Renovatio theme (Name of my theme) is not avaliable publicly as I don't design wordpress themes for public release, only for myself. Sounds selfish, but Im only one man who's limited to what time he can spend doing website development and im afraid my blog gets the attenion on that one. Feel free to message me if you want me to help with website dev stuff, such as coding problems, help/suggestions etc.. or just general chit chat, im all ears
Q. Where are you from?
A. Im from England and live in the town of Nottingham. For anyone in the UK, the city Nottingham should make the following words come to your head. GUN, CRIME, CITY (If you don't think these words resemeble Nottingham, Watch the East Midlands news more)
Q. How old are you?
A. My Birthday is on the 6th March 1992, you do the maths! (It saves me updating this page two years later realising it's been wrong)
Q. Whats your email address?
A. My email for this blog is admin@james-blogs.com im not linking it because Spam bots will no doubt get hold of it and then I'll get loads of those adult emails that want me to enlarge my penis, and take viagra alot. So no thanks spam bots, im sure the average internet user has grasped the art of Copy and Paste by now!
Questions about James' Blog I've received:
Q. Can you help me with...
A. Recently I have been receiving emails from people requesting help on such things as tutorials or how to do certain things. You are more than welcome to email me and request help, give me about 24-48 hours to respond and I'll assure you I will reply. If you are going email me requesting help on something, please be as clear as possible about what you need help with.
Q. Can you do a tutorial on...
A. Sometimes I get emails from people asking to write a tutorial on a certain area. Now I'll admit im not a fan of requests but if you want a certain task show to you then I will help you privately. What I tend to do is write the specific tutorial (In the format of my public tutorials) and password it so only you can access it, sometimes I may think that your request will benefit more than one or few persons so I may make a public tutorial. If this is the case I will give credit in the tutorial seems someone gave me the idea.
Q. Why does your blog have spelling errors?
A. I try to make sure my grammar is perfect but im sure you'll find grammar errors somewhere, I try to minimize these by reading over my content alot, but if you happen to find one, just drop me a email on the usual address and I'll fix it!
Q. How come James' Blog doesn't display correctly in IE6?
A. Im sorry but IE6?! Wow, anyone still on IE6 must of avoided Windows Update for many years! As I post this IE8 Release Candidate 1 is out so whoever is using it is two generations of browsers behind (Im not kidding I have a small percentage of people viewing James' Blog on IE6 according to my stats). James' Blog can never display correctly in IE6 as it used transparent .png images and support for transparency isn't built into IE6, I could fix all the issues in IE6 as in display wise (padding, margins etc), but IE6 is so redundant it's not worth the time. If your using IE6, please for god sake update to IE8 or at least IE7!
Q. What is the font you are using on your logo and other parts of your blog?
A. The font is called "Complete in him" and is a free font which can be downloaded at various free font directories such as DaFont Other than that im using Arial for standard text parts such as headers and content.
