Seeing a smiley face on your WordPress Footer?

Recently I saw a unexpected visitor suddenly appearing on my footer. A unusual guest named smiley, yes really! As I was doing a regular check on browsershots.org to see how my website was displaying in all the main browsers I noticed a random gap after the footer with a small smiley face in the bottom left corner and sure enough I saw it for myself when I checked it out in my internet browser. What was causing the uninivited guest to appear? Read on to find our the cause of this weirdness!

Margin and Padding Shorthand

One of the most common attributes in CSS are margin and padding, while there use isn't that big it certainly helps a website's content look clean and spaced out. Margins create certain amounts of spacing between almost anything on a webpage and can be used to seperate divs. Padding of course is most commonly used to space out divs, paragraphs and general content so everything isn't jumbled up and wrap up within each other so it is clear to the reader. Like many CSS attributes margin and padding have shorthand versions of themselves. Are you completly destroying your work productivity?

So I've very nearly finished my first year of Sixth Form, and I've done alot of work over the year, but as the 6 weeks holidays approach I looked back on what points I should of been working when in fact I was distracted by various things on my computer or elsewhere, kind of inspired me to create a post on how you could be destroying your work productivity. Are we seeing the end of Internet Explorer 6 support?

Recently YouTube has announced it will be phasing out support for the Internet Explorer 6 Browser, about time! For anyone who is still on this out dated browser (And HAS the choice of upgrading) you really need councilling. I don't get why some people constantly ignore there Windows Update screen which by now will probably be screaming at them to update. What can you possibly benefit from using Internet Explorer 6 compared to Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, Chrome and the rest of them. With that small rant over, I was delighted to read on twitter than YouTube was the next website in the line to say good bye to Internet Explorer 6.

Review of the Compaq Presario CQ60-307 Laptop

A week ago I posted about my brand new laptop which I had recently got, now that I've had a couple of weeks to play around with it and test it out I thought I'd make detailed review of the product. This review is for the Presario CQ60-307, I am aware that there are different revisions of the laptop with slightly different specifications, but generally they are all similar to each other. First impressions of the laptop are really good. It is styled well and though it is larger than many laptops out there the weight is quite reasonable too. Read more for the full review.
